Lost in the Himalaya is a start up trekking company that offers professional, affordable and personalised trekking adventures in the Himalayas to travelers from all around the world. Since our establishment in 2019, our goal has been to provide our clients with unique, one of a kind experiences in the Nepal that they will never forget. We are based in both Sydney, Australia and Kathmandu, Nepal.

Ujjwal Rai

Founder & Guide

Ujjwal is an experienced trek leader, expedition organizer, and photographer with over 14 years of guiding experience in the Himalayas of Nepal. He has also works as an Activity Guide for a Norwegian travel company, leading trips across Antarctica, Europe, and the Arctic. Currently based in Sydney, Australia, he continues to share his passion for trekking and adventure travel.

As a child, Ujjwal was fascinated by mountains and travel. However, coming from a modest background, his adventures were limited to his imagination. Determined to turn his passion into reality, he began working as a trekking guide in Nepal. He started as a porter, carrying heavy loads through the rugged Himalayan terrain, before working his way up to becoming a highly skilled mountain guide.

Over the years, Ujjwal has led treks across Nepal’s most iconic trekking destinations, including the Everest Region, Upper Mustang, the Annapurna Circuit, Manaslu, and Langtang. His extensive experience allows him to cater to trekkers of all skill levels, ensuring a safe and memorable journey through the Himalayas.

Ujjwal is known for his sense of humor, expert knowledge of the mountains, and dedication to making sure every client has an unforgettable trekking experience. His ability to personalize treks according to the interests and abilities of each traveler has earned him lifelong friendships with adventurers from around the world.

Raj

Rajesh K. C. (Raj)

With over a decade of guiding experience in Nepal, Raj is a highly skilled trekking guide specializing in the Everest, Annapurna, Manaslu, and Langtang regions. Based in Kathmandu, Nepal, he has led countless adventurers through some of the most challenging and breathtaking trails in the Himalayas.

A true adventurer at heart, Raj has not only guided trekkers on iconic routes but has also helped climbers achieve their mountaineering dreams, including summiting Island Peak (6,165m) in the Everest Region. His deep-rooted knowledge of high-altitude trekking, safety protocols, and cultural heritage makes him one of Nepal’s most sought-after guides.

Born in the foothills of Mt. Everest, Raj’s journey has been one of resilience and determination. Having lost both parents at a young age, he grew up facing life’s toughest challenges—experiences that shaped his strength and unwavering spirit. Before stepping into the trekking world, he served 12 years in the Nepalese Army, developing exceptional endurance, discipline, and leadership skills.

Born in the scenic Lamjung district of Nepal, Prabin has spent years exploring the rugged landscapes of the Annapurna Circuit, Everest Region, and beyond. With 4-5 years of experience leading trekkers through some of Nepal’s most breathtaking trails, he is dedicated to providing more than just a trekking experience—he aims to turn every journey into a learning adventure, where travelers immerse themselves in the rich culture, history, and traditions of Nepal.

Deeply passionate about the mountains, local communities, and cultural heritage, he believes that Nepal is not just a trekking destination but a place where travelers can connect with the people, architecture, and religious traditions that make the Himalayas so unique. His mission is to ensure that guests return home not just with stunning memories but with a deeper understanding of Nepal’s way of life.

Beyond trekking, he is an avid photographer and videographer, capturing the essence of Nepal’s diverse landscapes and vibrant cultures.
